Bostwick Design Partnership led an urban planning and design effort shaped by stakeholder and public input to redefine Union City’s northern gateway as a clear and welcoming entry to downtown Union City. Through workshops and stakeholder collaboration, the team identified priorities for safety, walkability, and community identity, guiding a plan that reorganizes the intersection, improves pedestrian connections, and introduces a welcoming public plaza as a gathering space. The design balances change with preservation by removing a deteriorated structure while reflecting its historic character in new elements and surrounding façade improvements. The result is a cohesive streetscape that strengthens sense of place, improves the user experience, and supports continued reinvestment in the downtown corridor.
