In cooperation with the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, the Columbus Metropolitan Library, and the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, Cleveland Public Library was part of a team awarded a grant that will provide for one of four “Digital Hubs” in the state of Ohio.

Cleveland Public Library leveraged the opportunity to create not simply a functional space but an immersive environment for community benefit. The Digital Hub is located 3rd floor west wing of the historic Main Building, where it shares space with the Preservation department, relocated from another facility in the system. Both departments benefit from a more publicly accessible location in coordination with the new Cleveland Digital Public Library.

Cleveland Public Library added this as a primary destination for Main, building on the success of the TechCentral space. In addition to the 3rd floor west wing the project explored how the approach and arrival was designed, both with signage in and around the building generally and with wayfinding and multimedia on the 3rd Floor specifically.

As a destination, the space also incorporated interactive multimedia that both educates visitors and allows them to participate in the exploration of the existing and expanding digital collections. New content can be created here that will enhance both the visitor experience and the collections themselves.

Bostwick Design Partnership collaborated with branding and wayfinding firm Karen Skunta & Company to create this new space for the library.
