New opportunities.

The Erie Malleable Iron Site was home to a former iron foundry and machining company founded in 1880. The site includes manufacturing, office, and warehousing buildings on 5.48 acres located on Erie’s industrial corridor on West 12th Street. The site was purchased in 2021 by the Erie County Redevelopment Authority and is in the early stages of being transformed from a brownfield site to a productive high-tech business park.

The goals of the project include blight and environmental remediation, removing hazardous buildings, rehabilitating existing buildings, and constructing new buildings. Outcomes of this transformation will enhance local business retention, attraction, and job creation. Another goal is to honor the site’s industrial heritage and the role that Erie Malleable Iron played in the economy of Erie County by preserving historically significant buildings on this site.
