The primary focus of the addition is a Chemical Engineering Laboratory that features experimentation stations centering on a variety of instrumentation, including a distillation column, heat exchangers, a cooling tower, and a Rankine cycle simulator among many others.

Additionally, the expansion features a simulation lab in which three simulated plant control interfaces are incorporated into collaborative student stations to give learners a nearly authentic operational experience that reflects the industry-based roots of the Johnstown engineering programs.
