Culture

Design. Experience. Partnership.

These are the values that shape our firm. We live these ideals daily, and the way we work is deliberately designed to foster them. This combination of clear values, motivated staff, and intentional processes shapes our culture.

We thrive in a cooperative, participatory design environment, where we all think and work together to achieve our clients’ objectives. Every individual’s experience builds our collective expertise, and we encourage everyone to participate in a dialogue of ideas, without exception

We cultivate our culture through physical and virtual workspaces: open office team clusters and collaboration software that transcends geographical distance. We are committed to fostering creativity in a setting that promotes mutual respect among all participants.

“As someone who truly appreciates mutual trust and respect between an employer and their employees, I admire the leadership team’s devotion to remaining transparent with their staff. Through both the celebrations and the challenges we act as one, and this unity would not be successful without the open and honest commitment of the firm.”

Kristin Bogaard  |  Architect

“I have found a great intertwined group of people who are dedicated to using architecture as a force to improve the care and well-being of others. The firm fosters an environment of continual learning, collaboration, and thoughtfulness that extends all the way from client interactions to interpersonal interactions within our teams. It has been an excellent experience to work in an office where a deep, thoughtful process is encouraged and everyone can symbiotically learn from one another.”

Hayden Erdman  |  Associate

“What continues to impress me is how collaborative the environment is; everyone has a voice and the ability to participate in or learn about any part of the process.”

Office Initiatives

We believe in continuously building a culture which respects your needs to embrace your work and build on your strengths.

Friday Forums

Most Fridays, you can find our staff sharing lunch to review a project case study, discuss lessons learned, and debate best practices. Individuals and teams prepare these presentations and lead interactive, lively conversations about our profession.

Charrette-a-tete

Charette: an intensive effort to finish a project. Tête-à-tête: a private conversation. These sessions are open to all and orchestrated to engage staff in design-intensive conversations that advance a current project-specific design problem.

Architecture Show & Tell

Staff share school thesis projects, previous work, unique interests, and honed hobbies in a forum that encourages dialogue. Together, we refine our presentation and listening skills while learning about and bonding with each other.

Celebrations

We celebrate important events and employee successes at our office. We sing to those celebrating birthdays, applaud career and project achievements, and toast firm milestones.

Our values are rooted in respect for all people and responsibility to human society.

This is who we are and why we endeavor to continuously better ourselves and the practice of architecture.

Oh! And we have dog Fridays 🙂
