Johnstown Chemical Engineering Addition

University of Pittsburgh

Industry-based roots.

This addition houses the Chemical Engineering labs and classrooms as part of the latest degree program to be added to the campus’s offerings. The primary focus of the addition is a Chemical Engineering Laboratory that features experimentation stations centering on a variety of instrumentation, including a distillation column, heat exchangers, a cooling tower, and a Rankine cycle simulator among many others.

Additionally, the expansion features a simulation lab in which three simulated plant control interfaces are incorporated into collaborative student stations to give learners a nearly authentic operational experience that reflects the industry-based roots of the Johnstown engineering programs.
